Human rights education: Welcome to school classes!

Pupils throughout Austria are cordially invited to visit the AOB as the "Human Rights House of the Republic of Austria" with their teachers as part of their education. The AOB shares first-hand practical knowledge on citizen, human and child rights as part of political education, law subjects or history lessons.

We also offer a tour of the AOB premises at Palais Rottal as part of the visit. Following the tour, ombudsmen and subject specialists will make themselves available to answer questions on the legal practice and on the work performed by the Ombudsman board.

Publication for the detailed discussion of human rights topics in education

The AOB provides each school group with the publication “Young PEOPLE and their RIGHTS” as a supporting and in-depth document addressing and handling the topic of child and human rights. The book is especially geared towards young people from the age of 15 and presents the rights of young people based on examples from their lives. As a supplement to the book, Zentrum Polis provides teaching ideas and materials. The online database of the job exchange offers teaching examples and lesson ideas on the subjects of child and human rights.
